Hello fellow Disqus users who have been seeking answers to many questions that surround the Disqus shenanigans that have been transpiring for a while. Many of you have been fighting these problems for a long time, some of us for a short time and some are new to the fray. It seems being scattered around isn’t having too much of an impact despite some of us being singled out here and there on multiple channels.
I of course am referring to the down votes, leader board and channel attacks. These attacks are clearly thought out and seem to be centralized. These attackers seem to have immunity on Disqus as Disqus claims these attacks do not happen, many of us know this is false. This is where we get on the same page so we put an end to this once and for all.
Recently, Canadian Free Press was a victim of a massive down vote spree to knock the channel down. In one day (Oct 9 2016) it saw -18,176 down votes.
How is this remotely possible?
The channel owner was given 2 answers by 2 different gold stars. First it was blamed on the mod panel.
There’s a huge problem with that second one, CFP has only banned 2 users and one account deletion, and combined they would have been lucky to have received 1000 up votes between them. This is where things get interesting. While this was going on, I asked a moderator over on Think Tank Reports if they could show me their channel standings for December 2015 to October 2016 because 2 of us regulars Bruised Orange and myself have deleted our accounts this year.
Bruised deleted his in December 2015 or in January 2016. For those that know who Bruised Orange is, you know he’s got a lot of up votes, and you know he gives a lot in return. His up cote count was at the very least double that of the 18,176 mark. I removed my account in March 2016. My up votes were in the 13,000 range, TT was where I accumulated most of that. This doesn’t even the up votes given to other users. Also, Think Tanks has banned a few users (more than 2 that’s for sure) and
Notice no drops.
Also, Think Tanks traffic isn’t as high as Canadian Free Press, so why no negative drops when the 2 of us deleted our accounts?
CFP has many banned users from CA news, and CFP has been getting hit since later April of this year. The major attacks came in a month before Duck Season posted an ‘Olive branch’ thread on August 23 2016
One poster let it slip as to why she was here July 24 2016. She was a CA moderator at this time.
The channel owner noticed this on July 23 of 2016
After imda was banned and Disqusted deleted his account because of this in mid September 2016
The down votes and flagging dropped significantly. During the time of their heavy dv’s, not once did CFP see any negative votes in his analytics panel, and users were seeing 2-5 per post a day. 15 users were the targets, some light posters and some heavy posters. I would have averaged about 30 posts a day and was hit the hardest seeing 3-5 per post. Why isn’t CA falling, they ban posters almost daily, their traffic isn’t anywhere near as heavy as CFP. What exactly is going on here?
Some of our fellow users who run another channel decided to test out the leader board since some posters who should be there weren’t there. They picked the poster who had the number 3 position on their board and picked them off. Then, put them back on after removing their dv’s, which brought this thread to life.
Tony’s answer was a non answer and has yet to still chime in.
This is where the rest of you come in, because you are the ones whom I learned from, because most of you have been in the fray way longer than I have. Paper Girl wants to take this above Tony and Saeed, and we need as much ammo as possible. Please share your findings with those here who are just starting to catch on. Also, with a strong presence they can no longer dismiss us with such ease like they have been doing for a long time now. The goal is simple, the troll tools and trolls need to be removed, the trouble makers and saboteurs need to be dealt with. We all know what the common theme happens to be in this regard.
Please use the shout out feature to call in everyone and anyone possible in this fight so all of your hard work isn’t in vain. You who have been at this forever it seems need to know, it hasn’t been all for nothing. Scattered about, we don’t stand a chance, centralized and they will have to acknowledge this.
Many of you want this experience to be a good one which is why you have done what you have done, and that’s work tirelessly to expose those who have been wrecking the experience for thousands of users, only to be stone walled and dismissed. That’s simply not acceptable.
Do they want a functioning place or a place of dysfunction?
Please share you stories, findings and ideas below.
