Freedom of speech is very important, as is the need to debate and argue scientific facts. If a company or economic interest is distorting facts for profits, I’m not sure that there is not merit to the AG’s actions. On the other hand, if the AG’s are suppressing valid debate, then they should be fired and prosecuted themselves…

The question is: What part of Global Warming is a fact? If there is no proof why should the company be responsible to their investors to say so? Should the company be responsible for telling their investors that since there is no Easter Bunny profits might go down? This is a method of control, one way or another.

Again, scientific debate should be welcomed on this or any other issue. Without taking a side on the underlying issue of climate change, any politically motivated pressure or censorship should be challenged.

More than likely this is a maneuver BY the oil megacorps to set up a way for the complicit Justice Dept and Obama to punish the smaller oil upstarts. Billions mean nothing to Shell and Exxon, but litigation can easily send smaller corporations into bankruptcy. Which would narrow the competition for the big guys and most likely provide kickbacks from the administration. This is how GE occupies a favorite space with this administration right now.
